Radiohead, the White Stripes and More Grab NME Award Nominations![]() Some of indie music's most talked-about bands have been nominated for NME Awards, the British rock magazine announced Wednesday. The nominees include some bands you've read a lot about here on Buzznet. NME announced the nominations for all 19 categories of its first-ever U.S. awards show, which was voted on by the American public. According to a recent press release, Radiohead, The White Stripes, M.I.A. and others picked up nominations in categories such as Best International Band, Best Album and Best International Solo Artist, respectively. Lesser-known indie bands were also heavily represented. MGMT, Band of Horses and Vampire Weekend were all nominated for Best New Live Act, while Arcade Fire, Bloc Party and Klaxons will compete in the Best International Track category. The Killers racked up 4 nominations, the most for an American group, in the categories of Best Band, Best Live Band, Album of the Year and Best Track, while Brit-Poppers Arctic Monkeys grabbed 5 nominations: Best International Band, Best International Live Act, Best International Album, Best International Track and Best Video. For a full list of the nominees and categories, check out NME.com. The NME Awards USA will be held at the El Rey Theatre in Los Angeles on April 23. The ceremony will also feature live performances from well-known acts and up-and coming indie stars, according to the press release. A list of the performing groups was not available at press time. Fans will be able to watch the ceremony live on MySpace.com/NMEmagazine. (Check out Buzznet's NME Awards USA photo gallery.) Interesting... You don't think it will be rigged? I mean, I know the reception to FWN was less than it was for the first album, but what with Alex Turner's side thing it can only generate more buzz and sell more magazines. And after all, this is the Awards Show who gave Kasabian best Live Show over Muse. These guys love buzz more than they love music
